Michael Hughes
Michael Hughes has over thirty years experience in Information Systems, prior to joining Convergent Informatics, He was the Executive Director of Amgen's Global Commericial Operations Information Systems GCOIS Group (Sales and Marketing & Government Affairs).
He implemented department efficiencies that allowed GCOIS budget to remain flat while supporting five-fold increase in sales volume from $3 billion to $15 billion. His global team was responsible for Implementing and Suporting system to automate Sales Contracts, Chargeback and Government Pricing Reporting, Product Web Sites, PAC Management, Lobbyist Cost Tracking and Reporting, Customer Master and field Aliginment, Physician Call Center, Customer Relationship Management, Sales and Compensation Analysis and Reporting, Anemia Patient Outcome Tracking, Medicaid Reimbursement and Mobile & Remote Computing.
During the Amgen Immunex acquisition was responsible for Amgen's information infrastructure group (Networks, Servers, Telcom and Messaging). Accomplished day one integration of Amgen and Immunex systems. He created Amgen's Information Management Governance Office combining IS architecture and IS Security. He led the creation of the first IT Strategic Plan for Amgen. In addition, he had worldwide responsibilities for all Amgen Y2K mitigation & business continuity efforts.
Prior to Amgen, He was at Caltech/NASA's Jet Propulsion Labortory where he was responsible for the Enterprise Information System (Networks, Servers, Databases, Web Hosting, Colaboration Services). He was the manager of the Cassini Management Information System (responsible to track /coordinate all Receivable and Deliverables for Cassini Mission to Saturn) during which he received a JPL Award for Excellence and NASA Group Achievement Award. He also held the positions of Chief Engineer: Software, Systems and Operations Resource Center (Standards and Process Office) and Group Supervisor of the Signal Analysis group in support of the Army/Air Force All Source Analysis System.
When not engaged in developing IT strategies for Convergent Informatics Clients, Michael is involved in a number of life science organization organizations which seek to expand the presence of Life Science companies in the Greater Los Angeles area. In his spare time, he leads one of the praise bands and plays a Guild Guitar at Moorpark Presbyterian Church. He enjoys working in his California natural garden. He is an avid alpine skier and figures he's has spent over 365 days of his life on the slopes at Mammoth Mountain.
Michael has extensive experience in Sales and Marketing, Financial Reporting, Customer Relationship Management, Customer Data Integration, eBusiness, Government Affairs, Sarbane Oxley requirements, and Project and Program Management. His IT expertise includes networks (internet and intranet), desktops, servers and enterprise applications such as email, calendaring and document sharing.
Michael's business domain expertise spans the Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Aerospace, and Construction Management industries. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.
